 We are proud to announce the Fresh Ink Group's first annual Short Story Contest!

Submit your short stories (limit one per person) to us. The top three short stories received (as judged by us) will receive the following:

  •     Publication in the next Short Story Anthology published by the Fresh Ink Group.
  •     Publication on the Fresh Ink Group website, with promotion on our front page.
  •     Mention and links in our free newsletter that goes out to our membership.
  •     Free e-book copy of Been There, Noted That, an essay collection by Fresh Ink author Stephen     Geez. (read-only PDF Format)


In addition, the top story received will be published in our Membership newsletter, a print edition of Been There, Noted That by Stephen Geez, and will receive a custom piece of illustration tailored to the content of the story. The author of the story will have the right to reproduce that illustration whenever he publishes the story, with no royalties!

Submission Criteria

  1.  All entries must be received no later than February 1st.
  2.  All entries must be submitted in a common electronic document format. This includes, but is not limited to: .pdf, .doc, .docx, .txt, .rtf, .odt, .sxw, .sdw, .html, .xml. Optionally, entries may be submitted via regular mail in a printed form, but must be received by the above date. The entry must be printed or typed in a legible, scannable form. Printed submissions will not be returned without a SASE.
  3. Entries of any genre or topic will be considered, but we will not consider any entry that contains explicit, adult material, nor any content that discriminates or contains hateful speech toward any race, nationality, ethnic group, gender, orientation, or political affiliation.
  4. Entries should ideally be between 5 to 10 pages long, but longer or shorter works will still be considered. Entries that are chapters of unpublished books should be submitted to our Book Contest.
  5. By submitting an entry, you agree that the entry may be used non-exclusively by the Fresh Ink Group for promotional purposes, including but not limited to publishing on our site, inclusion in our newsletter, or inclusion in our next Short Story Anthology. Credit will be given to the author in every case, and links to the author's website or e-mail if used in an electronic form and submitted by the author at time of entry. The author agrees to indemnify the Fresh Ink Group from any liability if the author engages in plagiarism, copyright infringement, or in any  other case that may arise. In other words, make sure what you submit is your own work!
  6. Previously published short stories will be considered, if the author holds the rights to that story, and there is no exclusive contract with any other company in force.
